  • Alal Eran is Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and the Computational Heath Informatics Program, where she studies the molecular basis of autism.  She is fascinated by the clinical and molecular complexity of neurodevelopmental disorders, and enthusiastic about the possibilities of deciphering their underlying gene-environment interactions by integrating large datasets of functional genomic measurements and clinical information.

Dr. Eran has been studying RNA-mediated regulation at the synapse of children with autism as compared to neurotypical individuals, using deep sequencing of RNA and DNA.  She is interested in understanding the diagnostic and prognostic values of A-to-I RNA editing levels, striving to enable earlier diagnosis and more personalized care for children with autism.
