Giovanna is a fourth-year medical student at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. She holds deep interest for neurosciences and neurodevelopment, having previous experience in clinical research alongside the Neurosurgery department of the Faculty of Medicine of USP. Her research in Brazil focuses on intracranial aneurysms and the differences of the outcomes of black women compared to other patients, as she is trying to set light upon the institutional racism that exists in the healthcare system.
Giovanna joined Tamilia's lab in January 2025 and she will spend a year working on several projects including the Newborn Medicine, Neurosurgery and Neurophysiology groups at Boston Children's Hospital.
Her interests involve neurosurgery, clinical research, minority health and health disparities and neuroimaging/neurofuncional data.
