Stefanie Perrier, PhD

Stefanie Perrier is a Research Fellow at the Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in the Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging Developmental Science Centre. She received her PhD in Neuroscience from McGill University where she studied the pathophysiology of neurogenetic diseases, with a focus on inherited brain white matter diseases. Her current research interests have expanded from “nature” (i.e., genetics) to include the study of “nurture” (i.e., environment) and the associated impacts on children’s brain development. At the FNNDSC, she works with Dr. Yangming Ou and Dr. Sarah Morton to study how lifestyle and environmental factors, such as early life nutrition during the first 1000 days, impact neurodevelopment. Her research applies neuroimaging analysis, including multi-modal brain MRI of infants, as well as large-scale big data analysis drawing from large international birth cohort studies.
